Philip Butterworth-Hayes is a writer and broadcaster on the aviation and aerospace industries with a particular interest in air traffic management. He is editor of the fortnightly newsletter ATC Global Insight.

His aviation background includes posts as the director of communications and strategy at the Civil Aviation Navigation Organization(CANSO) in Amsterdam (2006-2007), the Manager of Jane’s Air Transport Division and lead consultant for Jane’s Information Group on civil aviation consultancy studies (1987-1992), founding editor of Jane’s Aircraft Component Manufacturers, Jane's World Airlines and Jane's Airport Review, a former editor of Interavia Aerospace Review, Airports International, Jane’s Defence Industries, Jane’s Military Aircraft and several unmanned air system publications. He has been an aviation consultant to BBC Television and Time-Life books and since 1992 has been the European correspondent for Aerospace America, the journal of the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics.

He also currently writes on aviation manufacturing for The Wall Street Journal aerospace supplements. In 2010, his company PMI Media Limited published Global Enabler –the story of the Airbus Military A330 MRTT.

He has authored a wide number of globally successful reports and studies based on future markets and analysis of current aerospace trends. These include The Market for ATC Equipment (Jane’s Information Group) 1997, 1998, 2001 and The Growth of Aircraft Manufacturing in low-wage economies 2005-2009 (PMI Media Ltd) 2010.

As an aviation consultant to BBC Television Outside Broadcast/Features department he was the script editor of Farnborough Air Show coverage 1992-1998, Script Editor Heathrow 50 (BBC1- 1995), International Aerospace BBC2 – 1997, Concorde Discovery/BBC Television December 1999/2000, The Biggin Hill Air Show, 2001, Discovery Europe, ATC: Too Complex For Humans, Discovery Worldwide, November 2002, Aviation Security, Discovery Worldwide, February 2003.

He began his aviation career in 1984 with the management of an air cargo disaster relief operation between Europe and Sudan. He had previously worked as a lecturer and journalist in North Africa.

Andrew Charlton is the Managing Director of the Europe-based strategic advisory, government and public affairs firm Aviation Advocacy. He advises airlines, airports and industry suppliers on strategic issues concerning air transport and how the industry is to be shaped in the future.

Andrew is well known for his forward looking and innovative thinking and writing. He writes a monthly subscription only intelligence reporter Aviation Industry Reporter – read by an increasing number of influential industry players each month.

Before starting Aviation Advocacy in 2005, Andrew held senior strategic and government affairs roles at SITA and IATA. He was also Chief Legal Officer of Qantas Airways.

Philippe is a Pilot and a radar controller from the early 70s, and spent most of his  professional career in the Eurocontrol Maastricht centre, where he was centre Supervisor from 1996 to 2005. He has worked for IFATCA since 1976, and has held various positions, including Regional Vice President Europe (1986-1990). He was IFATCA representative to various ICAO working Groups such as ICAO FANS II and Eurocontrol as well as the link between IFATCA and the IFALPA ATS Committee. He was also been Editor of IFATCA's magazine “The Controller” from 2004 to 2010, and is now a member of IFATCA Executive Board.
