|
Webinar: Is ATM facing system overload? |
Moderator: Phillip Butterworth-Hayes, ATC Global Editorial Director
Exclusive video interviews:
Graham Lake, Director General, CANSO
Nick McFarlane, Managing Director, Helios
David McMillan, Director General, EUROCONTROL
Hank Krakowski, former COO, ATO, FAA
Speakers:
David Gleave, Safety Expert
Philip Clinch, VP Aircraft Solutions, SITA
Thorgeir Palsson, Professor at Reykjavik University & Former CEO, ISAVIA
For many parts of the ATM industry worldwide the next few months are likely to be extremely challenging - the industry are already warning that this year ATM-related delays will rise to levels which will severely discomfort passengers and airlines. In the long term programmes such as SESAR and NextGen, collaborative decision-making and the closer integration of airports within the overall ATM system will, it is hoped, ease the delay problem. But what can be done in the short term?

|
Webinar: Cutting Edge Weather Solutions for the Aviation Industry |
Moderator: Jim Block, Chief Meterologist, Telvent
Aviation professionals need accurate, timely weather information in order to ensure safety, as well as to efficiently manage flight operations.
|
|
Webinar: Towards Harmony in the ATM Workplace |
Moderator: Phillip Butterworth-Hayes, ATC Global Editorial Director
Exclusive video interviews:
David McMillan, Director General, EUROCONTROL
Hank Krakowski, former COO, ATO, FAA
Graham Lake, Director General, CANSO
Speakers:
Thorgeir Palsson, Professor at Reykjavik University & Former CEO, ISAVIA
Philippe Domogola, Executive Board Member, IFATCA
Jan Klas, CEO, ANS Czech Republic
Will the ATM industry be able to cope over the next few years with growing traffic levels, new automated technologies and a potentially serious shortfall in controller numbers without major industrial disruption?
|
|
Webinar: Airport/Airspace Capacity and Air traffic Flow Management – Unlock the Untapped Capacity of your National Aviation System |
Moderator: Phillip Butterworth-Hayes, ATC Global Editorial Director
Speakers:
Graham Lake, Director General, CANSO
Hein Reid, Senior Manager of Operations (North), ATNS
Geoff Hounsell, Assistant Director ATM, IATA
Dave Rome, Vice President, Business Development and Global ATM Operations, Metron Aviation
Chris Dalton, Chief Air Traffic Management Section, Air Navigation Bureau, ICAO
With air traffic projected to double in next 15 years yet many Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) today find it difficult to accurately measure their airport and airspace capacities, let alone manage them for maximum efficiency.
ATC Global Virtual Events - Educational Programme - 13 July 2011
The second virtual event comprised a video interview, real-time panel discussions and interactive webinars in association with leading institutions and took place in July 2011.

|
Webinar: CDM and SWIM: finding new ways of data-sharing to unlock airport and airspace capacity |
Moderator: Phillip Butterworth-Hayes, ATC Global Editorial Director
Speakers:
Philippe Joppart, Deputy Head of Unit - Airports, EUROCONTROL
Colonel GS Ian Logan, Chief Military Aviation Regulation, Department of Defence, Swiss Air Force
Frank Brenner, FABEC General Manager Operations, DFS
Richard Houdebert, SESAR SWIM Project Manager, Thales
Marc Matthys, CDM Programme Manager, Brussels Airport, Belgocontrol
Airports, ground-handling organisations, ANSPs and aircraft operators have traditionally operated in their own silos, aware of, but not connected to, their partners. New technologies are being developed – such as 4-D FMS capabilities and trajectory planning, air-ground data-link and advanced tools to support separation management – which could make the job of information sharing still more complex.

Pre-recorded video interview: In the ATM Hot-Seat with David McMillan, Director General, EUROCONTROL |
|
|
Webinar: A-CDM, An Operational Viewpoint |
Moderator: Jim Stevenson, Business Consultant Airports, Northrop Grumman
This presentation will cover the commercial benefits of a collaborative approach to decision making in the airport environment, enabling improved ATM performance locally and across the region.
|
|
Webinar: NextGen and SESAR: time to be clear on the costs, benefits and technical/institutional solutions |
Moderator: Philip Butterworth-Hayes, ATC Global Editorial Director
Speakers:
Neil Planzer, Vice President, ATM, BoeingM
arc Hamy, SESAR & NextGen Deployment Vice President, Airbus ProSky
Simon McNamara, Deputy Director General, European Regions Airline Association (ERA)
Luc Lallouette, SESAR Programme Director for R&D Phase, ThalesP
Patrick Ky, Executive Director, SESAR JU ( pre-recorded video March 2011 interview)
NextGen and SESAR have started to deliver real programmes. But for many in the industry there are some outstanding issues which need to be urgently addressed. There are question marks over several technical, institutional and financial elements to both systems which need to be explored and understood so all stakeholders have a clear understanding how the ATM system in north America and Europe will evolve over the next few years.
ATC Global Virtual Event - Educational Programme - 19 October 2011
The virtual event in October featured debates and panel sessions focusing on interoperability, automation and a discussion with Alan Siebert from SESAR JU on the impact of SESAR JU on the European economy.
|
|
Webinar: Defining a roadmap for future interoperability |
Speakers:
Michael Standar, Chief ATM, SESAR JU
Bernard Miaillier, Head of ATM Content Review, EUROCONTROL
Anna Von Groote, Technical Manager, EUROCAE
With ANSPs around the world committed to developing a global interoperable ATM system, to follow the ICAO roadmap, crucial discussions are now underway to determine which are the most suitable uplink data formats, standards and regulations to support widely differing traffic patterns and degrees of technical maturity around the world.
|
|
Webinar: Safety challenges and efficiency gains from adding automation to ATM |
Moderator: Philip Butterworth-Hayes, ATC Global Editorial Director
Speakers:
Gregg Leone, Executive Director, System Transformation and Integration, MITRE
Alexis Brathwaite, President and Chief Executive Officer, IFATCAEr
Eric Perrin, Team Leader, Safety, EUROCONTROL
Andrew Kilner, Project Manager (Human Performance and Safety Research), EUROCONTROL
The process of changing the controller’s role from ensuring the safe separation of individual aircraft to strategic airspace manager has been under way for several years now. But what should the stepping stones be to introducing the most effective automated tools into the communications, navigation and surveillance system? Have we truly understood what information needs to be transmitted to what operator in what format to ensure greater levels of capacity and safety through the introduction of automation?
|
|
Webinar: How critical is ATM modernisation to the European economy? |
In the hot seat with Alan Siebert, Chief Economist, SESAR JU, Philip Butterworth-Hayes, ATC Global Editorial Director discussed the macroscopic impacts of SESAR JU on the European economy.
