Writing ATM Ground Standards for SES Deployment
Date: Tuesday, 12 March 2013
EUROCAE Chairman: Abdoulaye N'diaye, Secretary General, EUROCAE

Overview:

Before SESAR and NextGen technologies can be industrialised and deployed, a wide number of technical standards and technical specifications will have to be developed.  These technical standards and specifications will facilitate operation, interoperability and cost-effective industrialisation and deployment of new systems and procedures.

Industry partners need to work to a common set of design criteria and means of compliance. Given the complexity of the systems being developed and produced this is a vital challenge and will need to incorporate inputs from global partners to ensure worldwide interoperability.

These standards and technical specifications will need to be developed and validated by multidisciplinary teams including industry and regulatory bodies. Timescales for this important work is short and has also to take account of the need to evolve existing ATM System standards to ensure the smooth introduction of new technologies.

This session will focus on some of the key challenges that European organisations tasked with developing new sets of standards will face.
