The FAA has appointed Dennis L Filler as the new director of the William J Hughes Technical Center in Atlanta. Filler was previously Chief Information Officer and Director of Information Technology for the FAA ATO, and set up his own consulting firm in 2009. NATS has appointed Alastair Muir as the new Operations Director at its control centre in Prestwick, Ayrshire. Muir succeeds Pauline Lamb, who is moving to become Chief Operating Officer at Airways New Zealand. Muir most recently represented NATS in Brussels as International Strategy Director.

On January 1, 2013, the US State Senate unanimously confirmed Michael P. Huerta as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) administrator for a five year term. Huerta became Deputy Administrator in 2010 and assumed the Acting Administrator's role in December 2011.

ERA has appointed Viktor Sotona as Managing Director, following the voluntary resignation of Vladislav Hofman. Hofman, who achieved record financial results last year, takes on a consultancy role. Alaska Air Group Chairman Bill Ayer takes over as Chairman of the RTCA NextGen Advisory Committee in October 2012 for a two-year term. He replaces JetBlue President and CEO Dave Barger. The group is a federal advisory committee formed to advise the FAA on policy-level issues facing the aviation community in implementing NextGen.

The Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) Company of South Africa appointed Thabani Mthiyane, as Acting Chief Executive Officer (ACEO) on 1st September 2012. His appointment follows the resignation of the incumbent CEO Patrick Dlamini, who is now the CEO of the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA).
